Your Bank Account Isn't Your Worth (And 3 Other Money Beliefs to Unlearn)
Jun 24, 2025
You know the feeling.
You open your banking app, hold your breath, and let the number on the screen decide if you're a success or a failure.
A good month? You're a genius. A slow month? You're not cut out for this.
When your work is personal, it’s easy to let your income feel personal, too. But tying your self-worth to your net worth is the fastest way to get stuck on the money rollercoaster.
Building a business that actually feels good starts with unlearning a few toxic beliefs. Let's start with these three.
1. The Belief: "My bank balance equals my self-worth."
This is the most dangerous belief for any solopreneur. Your cash flow will always fluctuate, but your worth as a person does not. Tying your value to a number is a recipe for anxiety.
You deserve to feel proud of your work on good months and bad months. The first step is to separate what you have from who you are.
The New Belief: My worth is constant. My income is a tool I can manage and grow.
2. The Belief: "I have to work harder to make more money."
We're taught that burnout is a sign of success. This "hustle" mentality is a trap for creatives.
It ignores the real keys to financial growth: your energy, your alignment, and the incredible value you provide. You don't get ahead by working more hours; you get ahead by charging what you're worth and doing work that lights you up.
The New Belief: I don't need to work harder; I need to work with more alignment.
3. The Belief: "Focusing on money isn't 'spiritual' or creative."
Many heart-centered people feel guilty about wanting to make good money. They worry that focusing on finances is greedy.
Here’s the truth: Money is just a tool. It's the energy that sustains your craft and allows you to help more people. Being well-paid doesn't make you a sellout; it makes you sustainable.
The New Belief: Money is a tool that supports my vision. Managing it well is an act of self-love.
